CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) -- The Department of Corrections is investigating after an inmate at one of its Canon City facilities died while working on a hydraulic dump truck.

Corrections spokeswoman Katherine Sanguinetti says in a news release 55-year-old George Kronsbein died while working on the truck at a repair shop at the East Canon Complex on Monday morning. Few other details were released, including how Kronsbein died and why he was serving time.

The shop maintains and repairs state vehicles used by the Department of Corrections. It employs five staff members and between 10 and 15 inmate workers.
