Car/Motorcycle wreck sends one to hospital

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) It happened around 10 pm Friday night on 12th Street and Teller. Our crew on scene says a motorcycle was traveling toward north Avenue when a driver pulled out of the parking lot leaving Suplizio Field. The motorcycle driver was unable to avoid the car and collided with the driver side of the car. The motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital, and 12th street was closed for about 20 minutes. The accident caused additional congestion as many other cars were trying to leave the parking lot. We'll continue to update this story as we receive more information.

Please be aware the motorcyclist was wearing a full face shield helmet at the time of impact. I oppose compensatory helmet laws, but have always ridden with one on for the past 34 years of motorcycle use and I am convinced it saved my life!

There should be additional consequences for causing an accident with a motorcycle.
