Colo. regulators approve 500-foot drilling setback

DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has voted to require new oil and gas wells to be drilled at least 500 feet from homes and buildings.

The new setback replaces a 350-foot rule that opponents said were jeopardizing public health.

According to the Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/aeth2yz) the oil and gas industry opposed the bigger setbacks, saying it may make it more difficult to develop resources.
