Colo. unemployment rate decreases slightly to 8.2%

Jobs in financial activities and business services gained more employees this month.

DENVER (AP) -- Colorado's unemployment rate decreased to 8.2 percent in August, down one-tenth of a percentage point from July's unemployment rate of 8.3 percent.

The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/QrMNJM ) reports to us that figures released Friday by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, show the largest over the month private sector job gains. They were in financial activities and professional and business services. Meanwhile, the largest over the month declines were in trade, transportation and utilities and leisure and hospitality.

The national unemployment rate in August was 8.1 percent.
