Colorado stock show to honor slain student

DENVER, Colo. (AP) A suburban Denver high school student shot to death by a classmate will be celebrated at the National Western Stock Show and Complex, which will host a memorial for family and friends.

The family of 17-year-old Claire Davis says the memorial will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 1 at the events center in Denver. The stock show will also rename an event the "Claire Davis Memorial Gambler's Choice Horse Show" for 2014.

Davis competed in a horse event at the stock show earlier this year and was scheduled to compete next month.

Davis died Saturday. Authorities say she was shot Dec. 13 at Arapahoe High School by a classmate who then committed suicide.
