Once we get past Christmas, the next thing we have to look forward to is another holiday of sorts -- the Super Bowl.

While there is a lot of hope the Denver Broncos will make it to the big game this year, the organization is hoping to lure the actual game to Colorado in the near future.

The Broncos and City of Denver have made a bid to host the Super Bowl in either 2018, 2019 or 2020.

The director of media relations with the Broncos tells our sister station KUSA an application was submitted to the NFL Super Bowl Advisory Committee in late August.

The Super Bowl is usually held in warmer climates or at indoor stadiums.

However, that trend will be broken in 2014 when New York City hosts the Super Bowl.

This year’s game will be in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
