Deputies kill man who pulled gun at grocery store

LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says deputies shot and killed a man who pulled a gun on them at a Littleton grocery store.

Deputies were called to the King Soopers near the intersection of West Belleview Avenue and South Kipling Parkway at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday on reports of a suspicious man who was talking to himself and had a handgun visible in his back pants pocket.

The man, whose name has not been released, pulled a gun when officers asked to speak with him as he exited the store. A shootout followed, and the gunman was shot at least once.

He died at a nearby hospital.

Investigators say they found a second handgun inside the man's jacket.
