DENVER (AP) Colorado disaster unemployment assistance benefits are available for workers in nine counties who are unemployed because of September's severe storms, floods, mudslides and landslides in Colorado.
State officials say unless people have a good reason, applicants in Adams, Boulder, Clear Creek, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, and Weld counties are required to file for benefits by Oct. 21. Arapahoe and Logan county applicants have until Oct. 25.
The program covers workers who do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits, including ranchers and farmers, independent contractors, and people who can prove they were working or were scheduled to work before the floods.
