NEAR ASPEN, Colo (KKCO) 35 firefighters worked to extinguish the small fire that broke out Saturday. The county sent out text and email alerts telling residents to evacuate immediately. The Basalt and rural fire protection district say witnesses say the fire was ignited at a shooting range. It was on federal wildlife lands near Lake Christine. Earlier Saturday, authorities said the fire has burned about half an acre north of town and that the evacuations were a precaution. The county has asked for federal helicopters and single engine air tankers for help.
