Former 8/9 teachers were back in court this week

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo A Fruita 8/9 teacher accused of harassing a student has pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges.

Jerry Baker was put on leave last April after allegations of harassment.

Harassment is defined as striking, shoving or pushing someone with intent to harass alarm or annoy.

Baker will face a trial in September. He'd been with the district since 1999 as a social studies teacher.

Another former Fruita 8/9 teacher accused of sending inappropriate private messages to students on Facebook has been sentenced to 10 year probation and 60 days in jail.

Randy Majors was arrested late last year and charged with three counts of felony exploitation of a child.

The girls he was sending messages to range in ages from 15 to 17.

The mother of one of the students discovered the messages which led to an investigation and arrest.
