FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Republicans filed an elections complaint on the first day of early voting, claiming that Democrats wrongly offered college students free pizza and T-shirts in exchange for voting.

The alleged violations of state voting rules happened Monday on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Republicans say that a large "Obama for America" sign was placed just outside the polling place, too close for state voting law. Republicans also said treats were offered for voting.

The Colorado GOP filed a complaint Monday with the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder's Office. State party chairman Ryan Call said an election judge erred by not stopping the campaigning outside the polling place.

A spokesman for the state Democratic Party described the complaint as "frivolous."
