A student was removed from a middle school in Frisco after police found a gun in the student’s locker.

FRISCO, Colo. (AP) Police are investigating after a gun was found in a student's locker at a middle school in Frisco.

The Summit Daily News reports police received a tip Friday morning that the weapon was in the locker, and the student was immediately removed from campus.

Summit County Sheriff John Minor says no threats were made toward any students and staff, and investigators believe the weapon was to be used after school for target practice. Regardless of the intent, it was illegal to have the gun in the school.
