DENVER, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is unveiling proposed legislation his office says is aimed at preventing and fighting wildfires.
The Democratic governor will be joined by lawmakers Thursday morning to announce a package of wildfire bills. Hickenlooper's office provided no details on what the proposals will be.
Lawmakers have already introduced some wildfire bills that are pending, including a tax credit for homeowners who conduct fire mitigation. Lawmakers also are proposing a death benefit to wildland firefighters.
