House catches on fire with boy inside
CLIFTON, Colo (KKCO) It happened around 10:30 Saturday at a home on the corner of 30 and a half road and Hawkwood Court. Nine year old Jon Harlan was inside the home, alone, when he heard people knocking on his door. He says his parents don't allow him to open the door for strangers, which is why he chose not to answer.
He didn't know those strangers were the police trying to get him out of his home that was catching fire.
"They kicked the door down and then I thought it was a robber, so I went into the bathroom and locked the door. Then they told me they were police and I came out. They told me my house was on fire get your dogs out and go," says Harlan.
Authorities got Harlan and his two dogs got out of the home safely.
His parents were at work at the time and arrived shortly after their son was rescued.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
