LONDON, ENGLAND (KKCO) But several hundred people not in favor of the economic impact and corporate aspect of the olympics marched near London's Olympic Park Saturday. The protesters wanted to send a message that Britain is not entirely united in their support of the games. Protesters marched past the Bow Quarter Residential Block, where the army, in a highly controversial move, deployed surface-to-air missiles on the roof as part of olympic security measures. Demonstrators also criticize what they described as the corporate nature of the olympic games.

Protest organizer Julian Cheyne said the goal of the demonstration was to draw attention to what he said were unkept promises made by the 'corporate olympics.' The protest attracted various groups ranging from demonstrators against the 2014 winter games in Russia, to anti-war campaigners who feel that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair should face a war crimes trial due to Britain's role in Iraq.

"We are demonstrating against what we call the corporate olympics. So, our intention is to draw attention to the issue, the failures to keep promises, because the olympics makes all sorts of claims that are basically untrue," says protest organizer Julian Cheyne.
