ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- Attorneys for three people facing murder charges in the death of an Aspen woman say they might ask the judge for two separate trials.

The Aspen Times reports attorneys told the judge Wednesday they're considering whether to ask for the case against Katherine Carpenter to be separated from the case against William and Nancy Styler, a married couple.

Prosecutors have filed first-degree murder charges against the three in the death of 57-year-old Nancy Pfister, whose body was found in her home on Feb. 26. The coroner says she died from blunt force trauma and had been hit in the head.

The Stylers had rented Pfister's home while she was in Australia. Carpenter was an assistant to Pfister and a bank employee.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9-13.
