GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Members of local hospitals and emergency services are participating in a full-scale hazardous materials training exercise on Friday.
The exercise began at 10:15 a.m. and is designed to practice emergency response plans, policies, and procedures as they pertain to external chemical threats. Dubbed 'Grand Junction Locomotion Commotion', the exercise involves the spilling of chemicals in a train derailment.
The VA Medical Center, Community Hospital, and Family Health West are among the hospitals participating in the training. Other response organizations like the Mesa County Office of emergency Management, Mesa County EMS, and Mesa County Health Department are also participating.
