2 arrested in connection to man found on side of road

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) 2 people are have been arrested in connection to a severely beaten man found on the side of 5th Street.

Investigators were able to track down a person who was in possession of the victim's mobile phone this week. After numerous interviews police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Allen Jompp and 22-year-old Christina Marie Padilla.

Investigators believe Jompp and the victim, 58-year-old John Hage, were acquaintances and in a car with Padilla and another woman. While the car was stopped, Padilla began beating Hage in the head, eventually knocking him unconscious. A witness said hage fell out of the car while being beaten, then Padilla got out of the car and began taking money and other items out of his pockets.

Hage was found severely injured and laying the side of 5th Street near Chipeta Avenue on Tuesday morning and is still in the hospital with severe injuries to his head.
