Local musician uniting Americans

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) Larry Cappetto has recorded and dedicated a song originally written as a tribute to those affected in the 1999 Columbine tragedy. The song is called "a friend of mine," and was written by Jonathan and Stephen Cohen. Cappetto says the song was a source of comfort after Columbine, and hopes it will bring the same sort of comfort to those who lost loved ones during the theater shooting.

"The words are still very applicable to what happened in Aurora and in fact in Colorado, and Columbine, and our state flower; its just an amazing tribute at that time and can now be too because it's a heartfelt song and was birthed out of tragedy," says Cappetto.

Cappetto went to Aurora Sunday night to perform the song at the vigil for families and friends who lost loved ones during this tragedy.
