Man held on federal drug and firearm violations

EAGLE, Colo. – An Eagle County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle driving slow and weaving on Interstate 70 between Wolcott and Eagle. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle to check on the driver until the vehicle drove off the side of the highway. The driver was throwing objects from the vehicle when the officer approached.

The deputy found two socks with approximately 1200 grams of methamphetamine along with a loaded handgun. The driver was under the influence of meth and was driving from Kansas City to his home in Oxnard, California.

22-year-old Michael Aguayo was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a weapon by a previously convicted felon, driving under the influence of drugs and weaving. Aguayo was held in Eagle County Detention Facility.
