Man ticketed on suspicion of harassing cyclists

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A 75-year-old man from Erie has been ticketed on suspicion that he followed two bicyclists down a road, honking relentlessly and nearly forcing one of them off the road.

The Colorado State Patrol says James Ernst was ticketed Wednesday on two counts of misdemeanor harassment, impeding the flow of traffic, and improper use of a horn or warning. His phone number is unlisted.

Dirk Friel posted a video on a website on Sunday showing a driver slowly trailing cyclists as the driver repeatedly honked at them throughout the two-minute clip.

Friel tells the Longmont Times-Call he was worried the driver would cause an accident.
