Mark Kelly visiting Colo. to back gun-control bill

Mark Kelly

DENVER (AP) -- Mark Kelly, the husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, is scheduled to testify Monday in support of at least one of the seven gun-control bills being considered by the Colorado Legislature.

Eileen McCarron, president of the Colorado Ceasefire Capitol Fund, tells The Denver Post Kelly will speak in support of a House bill that requires all private gun sales and transfers to be subject to a background check. The retired Navy Captain and astronaut has testified before Congress in support of gun control measures.

Giffords, a former Democratic congresswoman from Arizona, was injured at a meet-and-greet when she was shot in the head by Jared Lee Loughner in January 2011.

Six people were killed in the shooting.

Thirteen others were wounded, including Giffords.

He comes here to infringe on Colorado rights, why doesn't he try this in Arizona? Arizonans would run him out on a rail. I fear the backlash of the Colorado Boycott will destroy our economy.
