DURANGO, Colo. (AP) Officials in southwest Colorado want to know why Mesa Verde National Park is being left out while the state pays to keep Rocky Mountain National Park open during the federal budget battle.
State Rep. Don Coram is sending a letter to Gov. John Hickenlooper asking him to reopen all of Colorado's national parks.
According to the Durango Herald, the governor believes Rocky Mountain National Park needs state help because of the economic damage caused by flooding.
In the meantime, the state has no plans to reopen Mesa Verde, Great Sand Dunes or Black Canyon of the Gunnison national parks.
