NIWOT, Colo. (AP) -- Xcel Energy says it has restored natural gas to most of the thousands of customers who lost service.
Company spokesman Mark Stutz says an equipment failure at a regulator station Friday morning knocked out power to about 7,300 customers in Niwot and unincorporated Boulder County.
He says that by early Sunday morning crews had restored power to about 6,700 of them, while near 600 are still without power.
Stutz says the equipment was repaired Friday afternoon, but crews had to go door-to-door to restart customers' pilot lights.
The outage came just as a winter blast brought snow and single-digit temperatures to much of Colorado.
