HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (AP) -- The Colorado State Patrol says a Nebraska man has been cited with misdemeanor traffic charges in the deaths of two highway construction workers south of Denver.

The Denver Post reported Wednesday that 74-year-old Thomas Garrity of Bellevue, Neb., faces two counts of careless driving causing death.

The State Patrol says an SUV driven by Garrity veered off an exit ramp on C-470 in the south Denver area on Tuesday, striking and killing the workers.

They were identified as 47-year-old Joseph Schwartz of Morrison and 27-year-old Jesus Villalobos of Brighton.

Garrity's SUV then collided with another SUV. He and a 72-year-old female passenger in his vehicle were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The passenger's name hasn't been released.

The driver of the second SUV wasn't hurt.
