DENVER (AP) -- Officials say charges have been filed against a man in a 2001 Denver kidnapping and sexual assault after his DNA matched the crime.
Thirty-five-year-old Eddie Simon is charged with second-degree kidnapping, two counts of sexual assault, and third-degree assault.
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey's office said Thursday that Simon was arrested earlier this year on felony drug charges.
Simon's DNA was taken and was linked to the 2001 case, in which a 20-year-old woman was assaulted in a remote area of the old Lowry Air Force Base.
Simon is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Tuesday.
