GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) The Colorado State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a bus that resulted in 11 injuries Saturday night.

A Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) commuter bus was traveling westbound in the right lane of Highway 82 when the bus came across a slow-moving tractor ahead of it. The driver of the bus attempted to avoid colliding with the rear of the tractor by quickly changing lanes onto the left side. The driver of the bus then lost control and the bus began to skid. It then passed the tractor during the skid, crossed the right lane and the front of the bus struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes. Following the impact the bus rolled onto its left side.

The bus had 12 passengers on board, all but one of them were transported to the hospital. Six passengers were transported to Valley View Hospital and five others were transported to Aspen Valley Hospital. Of the injured, three had serious injuries and eight had moderate injuries. The male driver of the bus had minor injuries and was cleared and released on scene.

The RFTA bus was transporting occupants on a regional route from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.

This crash remains under investigation.
