Rocky Mountain National Park facing budget cuts

ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) -- Rocky Mountain National Park could see its budget cut by $623,000 unless President Barack Obama and Congress reach an agreement on spending cuts set to take effect in less than three weeks.

Colorado is home to 13 national parks and three national heritage areas under National Park Service management that could also be affected.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, the budget cuts could force reductions to visitor services, hours of operation, shortening of recreation seasons and possibly the closing of areas during periods when there is insufficient staff to ensure the protection of visitors
