GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) The event, titled “Town Hall with Mitt Romney and the Republican Team” is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Central High School. Doors open at 9 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

Romney will be in Colorado Monday night for an Aspen fundraiser – the details of which the campaign has declined to disclose. It is possible a second event will be added for later in the day Tuesday, but as of this morning details have not been finalized.

The stop continues Romney’s strategy of visiting places that are home to his base, rather than the suburban metro counties that folks on both sides of the aisle agree will decide the election. His previous campaign stops have included Fort Lupton and Craig. In both stops, the former Massachusetts governor focused his remarks largely on energy policy and the impact on jobs.

Energy is also a big issue in Mesa County, where Grand Junction is located. At 9.0 percent in May, it also has one of the highest unemployment rates in Colorado (where the state rate was 8.2 percent in May) giving Romney a backdrop to discuss – and hit President Obama on – both energy and the economy, as he has on previous stops.

Obama, meanwhile, just concluded his “Betting on America” bus tour through Ohio and Pennsylvania, where he discussed the “two fundamentally different versions” of plans the candidates have for moving the economy forward.

According to the Mesa County Republican Party, doors open at 9:00am, and the program starts at 10:00am. The town hall meeting is at Central High School. That's at 550 Warrior Way in Grand Junction. To RSVP, or for more information, call (720) 443-1517, text (CO) to GOMITT (466488), or email TeamCO@mittromney.com.
