State trooper injured when patrol car hits deer

DENVER (AP) -- A Colorado State Patrol trooper is recovering from his injuries after he struck a deer with his patrol car in Parker.

Patrol spokesman Nate Reid tells us the trooper, whose name has not been released, was responding to a call when his vehicle hit the animal near an intersection. The patrol car went off the side of the road and onto a sidewalk before hitting a tree.

Reid says the trooper was hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries and "is doing all right."

The deer was killed in the crash.

Why is this news worthy? People, professional and non-professional, hit deer all the time and we don't hear about it. This is a fact of life when you drive a car, truck, bus etc.
