A 13-year-old boy died after falling and hitting his head while skateboarding last night in Colorado Springs.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Authorities say a 13-year-old boy is dead after falling and hitting his head while skateboarding in Colorado Springs.

Police say the boy, whose name has not been released, was riding down Howard Avenue in the northeastern part of the city just before 6 p.m. Saturday when he lost control, hit a curb and hit his head when he was flung to the ground. The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/YFPGMK) the teen was not wearing a helmet.
