As the President's visit nears, several groups are scheduling protest rallies around the Grand Valley to show their stance on the President's proposed health care reform.
The President lands in Grand Junction Saturday afternoon and has already said he plans to discuss health care during his visit. While many people will turn out in support of his plan, others are already organizing the opposition. Starting at 10 a.m. the Western Slope Conservative Alliance along with the Americans for Prosperity Colorado will host the "Hands Off My Health Care Rally" at Lincoln Park, near the 12th and Gunnison intersection.
Speakers will include Senator Josh Penry, Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz and others. Two other groups attending the rally include Tea Party Activists and 9/12ers from the Front Range. Wearing solid red, white and blue members of those two groups plan to meet on the corner of 12th and North.
After the "Hands Off My Health Care Rally" activists will reassemble at Central High School at 3:15 p.m.
At 12 p.m. officials will launch the Campaign for Responsible Health Care Reform on the steps at the old Mesa County Court House. This assembly is sponsored by the Colorado Chamber of Commerce.
While Republicans are encouraging everyone to attend Obama’s Town Hall Meeting they hope shouting will be kept to a minimum inside the venue.
That doesn't mean they don't want people to express their First Amendment rights, though.
The Town Hall Meeting is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. this Saturday at Central High School.
