1st loss costs GJ spot in state's top 10

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Grand Junction Tigers have a 10-1 record on the season, but it isn't good enough to keep them in the state's top ten teams.

The Lady Tigers broke into the rankings on December 17th before losing their first and only game of the season to Pueblo West on the following Thursday.

Grand Junction now holds the 15th spot in the Denver Post Coaches and Media poll.

In Class 4A, the Montrose Indians remained in the top ten at No. 9. Meanwhile the Delta Panthers are closing in on the top ten. The Panthers are in 12th.

The Olathe Pirates saw their stock drop just a bit in the latest rankings. The Pirates (5-1) fell three spots from eighth to 11th in Class 3A.

Paonia dropped even further in the Class 2A rankings, falling four spots from fifth to ninth.
