GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Olathe Pirates continued their trend from the 2010 season with a win in their first league game on Friday night.
The Pirates (2-2, 1-0) defeated Basalt 17-12. So far, Olathe has had the same trend of wins and losses as their 2010 season, and if the trend continues, it would take them right to a state title.
Olathe took a 14-0 lead in the first half, and after a 57-yard field goal by Basalt's Bertilio Garcia, they took a 14-3 lead into halftime. The Longhorns scored a touchdown on their second possession of the second half, but the Pirates' defense was able to silence them from there.
The Pirates will host Cedaredge next Friday at 7 p.m.
