GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Kennedy was bigger, stronger, faster, and and undefeated. But somehow, the Palisade Bulldogs completely over-matched the Commanders to advance to the 3A semifinals.
No. 10 Palisade (10-2) has upset two teams to begin the state playoffs, but Saturday's game was an eye-opener to the 3A.
The Bulldogs came out of gates with no regrets. John Arledge went for it on fourth down three separate times on their first drive, and it resulted in a Luke McLean rushing touchdown. Palisade went up 14-0 before No. 2 Kennedy responded with a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs added on two more scores in the second quarter to send the Commanders into the locker rooms with a 28-7 deficit.
Palisade added 19 unanswered points in the second half to stun Kennedy and give them their first loss of the season.
Next week, Palisade will travel to Silver Creek. Silver Creek defeated the Bulldogs in the first round of the playoffs last year.
