Region Track off and Running

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - Stocker Stadium was filled with track and field athletes on Friday for the first day of the regional State qualifying meet.

Among the Western slope schools represented were all four Grand Valley Schools; Central, Fruita Monument, Grand Junction and Palisade along with Delta and Montrose as well as smaller schools like Paonia and Hotchkiss. The meet includes Western Slope schools from 2A to 5A.

Friday was used to hold preliminary heats for most of the track events, with the finals being held on Saturday.

Field events were split into either boys or girls from each classification holding their flights today. The alternating boys or girls for each field event will then compete on Saturday.
