Grand Junction Rockies donate money for new jerseys at local high schools

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Grand Junction Rockies are making an outstanding first impression.

They reached an agreement this weekend with School District 51 to provide new jerseys to local high schools' varsity baseball and varsity softball teams.

The schools that will receive the donations are Palisade, Grand Junction, Central, and Fruita Monument.

Over the next 12 years, one team will receive 25 new uniforms (both home and away) per season as determined by a rotation system that the schools will begin this spring.

"This gesture from the Grand Junction Rockies will be a tremendous boost to our supply budget," said School District 51 Director of Athletics, Paul Cain.

"I have a tremendous respect for kids who participate in extra-curricular school activities; they embody the spirit of our community," said Grand Junction Rockies Assistant General Manager Michael Ruvolo.

Cain added, "Our coaches, parents, and most of all, our student athletes are so appreciative of this support and we obviously look forward to an on going positive relationship with the Grand Junction Rockies for years to come."
