GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Olathe Pirates and Hotchkiss Bulldogs said goodbye to their State Championship hopes on Saturday with a loss on the road.
No. 2 Hotchkiss (11-1) was stunned in the 1A semifinals at No. 11 Wiggins, 47-19. The Bulldogs had not lost all season long until this game, and they had not let any team come closer than a three touchdown deficit.
No. 8 Olathe had a tough task at No. 1 Brush in the 2A Quarterfinals and came up short, 23-12. The Pirates were vying for their second straight state title and third in four years.
