PALISADE, Colo. Palisade High School's Cruz Maestas, a two-sport athlete, signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her career in basketball with McCook Community College.

This past season the 5'7" senior helped revamp Palisade's program, co-leading the basketball team to a 2nd place finish in the WSL and two rounds deep in the playoffs.

In the end the Lady Bulldogs finished with their best record in over seven seasons. Now she'll move up a level, but not without early adversity.

Cruz suffered a torn ACL just one month ago, but she's well on her way to a full recovery and a successful future.

"The coach is really supportive and he knows about everything," she said. "He is really helpful in talking about physical therapy. And he thinks I'll be ready, and I believe that I'll be ready too."
