GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Paonia Eagles were stunned by the Sargent Farmers on Friday night with a 46-35 loss in the first round of the 2A girls regionals. The boys were able to outlast Sangre De Cristo with a 61-60 overtime victory.
The boys played a close game with the Thunderbirds all night. With the win, Paonia advances to the next round of the 2A regionals.
The girl Eagles and Farmers went into the half tied at 17, but Sargent jumped out of the gates in the third quarter with a 10-0 run. The Eagles were unable to recover as none of their shots wanted to fall. Paonia ends the season with an 18-4 record.
