Local solar company brightens up the season for Roice Hurst

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Roice Hurst Humane Society is a little brighter after receiving a big gift from a local company.

High Noon Solar donated a 10 kilowatt solar system to the no-kill shelter.

Each year the solar company picks a Grand Junction non-profit to give the gift of solar panels.

Beside providing electricity for the shelter the solar panels will double as a shade for a new grooming and exercise area.

Officials at Roice Hurst say they are just trilled. Director Denise Lashmatt says, “Its going to save us money, it reduces our carbon footprint and we're just so honored to be the recipients of this gift."

The solar system will save Roice Hurst about $1,000 each year in electric bills and should last about 40 years.
