HS Football: Injuries the biggest concern for (2) Palisade going forward

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Palisade Bulldogs are alive and kicking after one week of play in the 3A state playoffs.

It was a close call last Ssaturday, but after falling behind by 13 the 'Dogs picked up their game and had a couple key plays that put them back in and gave them the 35-25 round one victory. Now Palisade is on to the quarterfinals opposite 7-seed Classical Academy.

At this point in the game they're trying to stay as healthy as possible. While quarterback Levi Hoaglund suffered a minor injury that kept him out a couple plays on Saturday, fellow senior Dalton Hannigan was out for the majority of play with a rolled ankle.

While he was out, senior Austin Terry picked up the slack with a huge performance. Though Hannigan is expected to be back in the mix this Friday night, Terry is ready to bring his A-game once again.

"It's really exciting," he said. "I love playing this game, and I love being out here with my guys, and I can't wait to play another week with them."

"We're one game at a time," said head coach Joe Ramunno. "Every team at this point in time can beat any other so you've got to prepare for the team you're going against, and our guys are doing that. They're locked in, we've got to take care of Classical Academy, a very good football team, with a lot of talent throughout, so we're going to take it one game at a time."

Palisade plays Friday night at Stocker Stadium at 7:00 PM.
