DENVER (AP) -- House lawmakers unanimously approved a bill to expand food sales without requiring commercial kitchens.

The bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Laura Bradford passed the House Wednesday.

Currently, food sold commercially must come from a commercial kitchen but the so-called "cottage food" bill would change that and allow commercial sales of food from a home kitchen.

House Bill 1027 applies only to "non-potentially hazardous" foods. A similar bill failed last year amid concerns that lack of oversight could pose health risks.

Bradford joked after the vote that co-sponsors of the bill would get a cupcake. The proposal now goes to the Senate for consideration.
