DENVER (AP) -- Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are in Colorado making last-minute pleas for votes ahead of the precinct caucuses.

Santorum and Romney both had morning campaign events planned. Romney planned to stay in Colorado to watch precinct caucus results Tuesday night in Denver.

Colorado Republicans won't actually choose most of their convention delegates until the state GOP assembly in April. But the precinct caucuses are important indicators of a candidate's support.

Romney won the 2008 Colorado GOP caucuses with more than 60% of the vote.

Tuesday evening caucuses are open to the public, though only registered Republicans are allowed to participate in choosing candidates. Local races and the party platform will also be up for discussion. Caucuses begin at 7 p.m.
