GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It was a different scene Friday night in downtown Grand Junction. Rood Avenue appeared more like the artsy Greenwich Village in New York.

The Raw Canvas Tattoo Studio drew a big crowd for the grand opening of its art studio. Nine artists of different genres are featured, including the owner's work. The studio is also showcasing different musicians set perform outside the studio, every couple months at art shows.

Owner Justin Nordine says he's excited to expose the artists and display a different atmosphere than what the Grand Valley is used to, with an array of artwork. "We have everything from traditional art all the way up to contemporary. We have urban art. We have different types of photography from different artists. We have a whole array of everything that you could possibly think of," says Nordine.

Nordine was once a teacher in Denver, but decided to pursue his passion of art and tattoo. He hopes to one day open a bigger lounge, serving food and featuring a stage for poetry, music and art.
