Colorado Springs, Colo. (AP) State Rep. Douglas Bruce say he's been cleared of a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female lobbyist at the legislature.

The Colorado Springs Republican said Sunday he received a letter from House Speaker Andrew Romanoff dismissing the complaint.

Romanoff, a democrat, has declined to comment.

The complaint was filed in the closing days of the 2008 legislature, but Bruce's announcement was the first public confirmation. The woman's name hasn't been released.

Bruce says the complaint said only that he had smiled at her from 20 feet away.

He says the complaint was ridiculous and was filed by “a vicious lobbyist for a liberal cause.”
