Denver (AP) Authorities will begin cracking down on drunk boaters under a tough new law that goes into effect this week.

Under the new law, the standard for boating under the influence will be lowered to 0.08 from 0.10. The new law also expands boating under the influence to include all vessels, not just motorboats or sailboats.

Colorado State Park Rangers and County Peace Officers will enforce the law on reservoirs, lakes and rivers.

Boaters who show signs of being intoxicated may be asked to perform voluntary maneuvers to determine if it is safe for them to continue on the water.
