Aurora, Colo. (AP) Three people are dead, including a toddler, after an SUV crashed into a pickup and shoved it into an ice cream shop in suburban Aurora.
Witnesses say a Chevy Suburban was southbound at a high rate of speed about 8 p.m. Thursday when it broadsided a northbound Mazda pickup turning left into a fast-food restaurant's parking lot.
That pushed the pickup south into a utility box and through the east wall of a Baskin Robbins.
Aurora police lt. John Sopranuk says the debris snared a 2-year-old boy inside the ice cream shop. He died at a nearby hospital.
Two women in the pickup also were killed.
Police say the driver ran away, but officers arrested 23-year-old Francis Hernandez of Denver a short time later.
He's being held on $10,000 bond.
