A Montrose man and a man from El Paso, Texas are dead after an accident on Highway 50 on Monarch Pass between Gunnison and Salida.
The accident happened at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Colorado State Patrol says the accident involved five vehicles.
Troopers say 79-year-old Ray Stout from Montrose was killed in the crash.
They say Stout was driving an RV when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a car that then hit another car. The occupants of both vehicles were uninjured. Stout’s RV then crashed head-on into a Nissan killing the driver, Miguel Solis, 68 from El Paso, Texas. Solis's wife, Felipa Solis was taken to a Grand Junction hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.
A Lexus was struck by debris from the crash but no one was injured.
