CANON CITY (AP) - Fremont County officials will again hear public testimony on a proposal to restrict uranium mining and uranium exploration in some areas.

The meeting Tuesday night will be shown on local public television because of the heightened interest in the proposal.

The Fremont County Planning Commission heard more than three hours of public testimony during a hearing last month.

Some of the residents who testified said environmental and safety issues depend on the outcome of the proposal which would amend the county's master plan.

The amendment would set a two-mile buffer between uranium activity and residential areas in the county's mountain districts.
